The course provides students with an overview of international environmental law by covering its core principles and important agreements. The course will be held in the form of a colloquium, with students preparing lectures on different international agreements that will be discussed in class. Topics will address the present international framework as well as current developments.

A focus will be on agreements concerning climate protection, e.g., the 2015 Paris Agreement, the Kyoto Protocol, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Furthermore, the protection of biodiversity will be covered in more detail.
